Diego Schneider – Founder & Head Recipe Creator

Based in Portland, Diego trained at the California Culinary Arts Institute and the International Culinary School at The Art Institutes, building a strong foundation in global cooking techniques and menu development.

The Vortex Bar & Grill began as weekend experiments in his small kitchen and grew into a platform centered on big flavors and shareable food.

Diego specializes in creative recipe development, flavor balancing, and comfort dishes with a global edge.

With 300+ tested recipes created for home cooks, his goal is simple: food that’s exciting, approachable, and worth making again.

When someone says it worked perfectly the first time, that’s his win.

Aimee, based in Asheville, trained in culinary foundations at Santa Barbara City College and expanded her global flavor knowledge through the Institute of Culinary Education.

Her storytelling approach helps home cooks feel confident while bringing warmth and personality to every dish.

How The Vortex Bar & Grill Was Born

It started the way a lot of good nights start, with a hungry group chat, a fridge that looked empty, and a craving that wouldn’t quit.

We wanted bar-and-grill flavor without the wait, the bill, or the “sorry, the kitchen’s closing.”

So we began messing around at home. One skillet. One sheet pan. One grill when the weather cooperated.

We tried sauces, stacked sandwiches higher, chased that perfect crunch, and kept rewriting recipes until they tasted like something you’d order twice.
